Acts of the Spirit - Andrew Elliott 06/21/26

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott begins a new series with the lesson 'Acts of the Spirit'. Reading from the books of Acts and John, we learn about the Holy Spirit and what Jesus described as an advocate. That this was part of God's plan from the beginning. How Jesus exchanged his physical presence for this divine presence that could live inside each of his people. In this lesson, Andrew helps us see that when we put our hopes in the power of this world (and not God) it changes the way that we think and the way that we live. Instead, we must put our hope in the Spirt and power of God, so we can reflect his joy, peace, comfort, love. Simply put: The power you expect is the power you reflect.

Spirit Transformation - Andrew Elliott 05/10/26

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott shares the lesson 'Spirit Transformation'. Reading from the book of John, Andrew looks at Nicodemus and his conversation with Jesus. We see how Nicodemus is confused by the teachings of Jesus, and was in a place of spiritual darkness. He struggled to receive Jesus' teachings with an open mind. Andrew reminds us we are baptized in to Jesus' body and that you can't move from one to the other without the Spirt. This was the plan from the beginning.

When the Spirit Calls - Braxton Kieft 04/19/26

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Braxton Kieft shares the lesson 'When the Spirit Calls'. Braxton, reading from the book of Acts, teaches us about the Holy Spirit, and when it is calling us to serve in ways we have not before. How we must have courage and take risks when we choose to serve; how the spirit can give us direction or dreams of ways to serve the Lord; and how our serving can answer the prayers of others. Braxton asks: Is the Spirit calling you now to serve in the mission field and build his church?
