We, just as the first century followers of God, must build our house on the 'Rock of Jesus' and his teachings.

Reading from Matthew 21, the 'Parable of the Tenants' Andrew helps us to see ourselves more clearly; how we can be just like these 'Wicked Tenants', rejecting God, his servants, and His word. He challenges us not to live a life deceived like these 'tenants' but to face the truth who we are. That we must change our motivation to live by gratitude for God's boundless mercy.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott, reading from Matthew 22, shares the lesson 'The Invited and the Chosen'. He shows us where God's people in the Bible were not following God's commands, and not responding to his invitation. How we are called to come to the 'banquet' (God's Kingdom). Andrew asks us to examine our lives, and reflect on God's invitation and asks 'How are we responding?'. And when we respond, we must also ask the question, 'Who are we overlooking to bring along?'.

Andrew reminds us that God always knows our heart, what we value and what we set our sights on. He asks, 'What do you value? Are you valuing things of this world or things of God's Kingdom?’. Andrew challenges us to take time now, to soften our hearts, while we still can.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott begins a new series called 'Amazing Grace'. Andrew reading from the book of Ephesians, shares how we do not deserve God's riches but his wrath because of our sin. That is through his grace and love for us, not our good works or our righteousness, we are saved from eternal punishment and death. We are only saved through Jesus. It is up to us to respond to this grace by living a life devoted to Jesus and the purpose he has set before us.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott concludes the series called 'Mountains'. Andrew, sharing from the books of Matthew and Isaiah, helps us understand that our lives have a divine purpose that’s only realized in the power of Jesus. The ultimate resolution of the gospel is that the wonderful kingdom of God will spread until it covers all of creation. Andrew points out that Jesus has invited us (his people) to play a special role in transforming not just ourselves, but to helping others up the mountain to become like Jesus.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott begins a new series called 'Testimony'. Each Sunday this month, a member of the church will share their story. Today, Jill Elliott (Andrew's mother), shares her story of how she came to make Jesus her Lord. Reading from Luke and Joel, Andrew asks: When times are rough, who do you turn to? He reminds how God is like the father in Luke who is forever loving. That we must turn to him in times of trouble, and he will welcome us with open arms.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott continues the series called 'Become'. Andrew shares from the book of John. He discusses how when we don’t feel well or are suffering, we want to ease the pain as quickly as possible. However, many times we must go through suffering because the secret to the transformation of your character that God desires for you lies in your suffering as well. It is our humility that tells us we must submit to God even when life doesn’t make sense.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Andrew Elliott begins a new series called 'Joy to the World'. Andrew shares from the book of John, how Jesus proclaimed 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full'. He discusses how we can find ourselves distracted by the pursuits of life, and the things we hope will fill our thirsty souls, instead of the fulfillment from Jesus. Andrew asks the question: 'Does the Joy of King Jesus reigning in our lives overflow from us as it should?'
