Risky Kindness - John Jacobs 03/29/26

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, John Jacobs shares the lesson 'Risky Kindness'. John, reading from 2 Samuel 9, teaches us what Khesed (Grace/Kindness) is and how it was shown to Jonathan's son Mephibosheth by King David, at a time when Mephibosheth was in 'Lo Debar' (a place of hardship). David practiced irresponsible grace with Jonathan's son. David was less interested in Mephibosheth’s position and more concerned about his condition. Are we focusing on a person's position and title or the needs? John's challenge: When is the last time you practiced irresponsible grace with someone.

Wells & Fences - Kyle Eastman 03/15/26

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Kyle Eastman shares the lesson 'Wells & Fences'. Reading from the book of Mark, Kyle talks about how the Pharisees made laws and traditions like ceremonial washing. They didn't care about the person's heart, but that is all God cares about. These can be 'fences' that will point people away from God. His challenge: For us to look at our rules and traditions or 'fences' of thinking. How we must be more accepting of others as we see the direction they are going. To share God's love unconditionally (like the wells of the desert shepherds) in order to draw people closer to God through a message of love and mercy.
