New here? DON'T PANIC
Here's what you can expect.
Before the worship service begins people mill around talking while enjoying a cup of coffee and a pastry. Please feel free to help yourself. If you have children you can check them into Kid's Church where they can participate in age appropriate lessons, singing and activities during the service. You will find the Kid's Church classrooms by going through doors on either side of the stage. A teacher will be waiting to welcome your child into class.
While all our of worship services are unique, when the worship service begins we usually listen to a scripture or watch a video to help our hearts to get ready to worship and the worship leader says a prayer. Next we sing a couple of songs with lyrics provided on the screen behind the stage. After those songs the sermon is delivered for about 25 minutes. A lot of people follow along in their bibles and take notes so they can study on their own throughout the week. If you don't have a bible you can grab one from the back and feel free to take it home with you. After the sermon has been shared the worship team takes the stage and leads the church in singing. After a few songs a member comes up and shares scriptures and thoughts to prepare our hearts for weekly communion. After a prayer we pass the bread and the fruit of the vine. You can use this time to pray, meditate or silently read some scripture; whatever helps you to connect with God. After communion, the members take up a collection for the needs of the church and the poor. You are free to give but please do not feel obligated. To close out the service the preacher comes up and gives a closing charge that serves as a focus for the week. Someone says a closing prayer and the service is concluded. The entire service lasts about an hour and a half. Don't feel like you have to leave right away, after church people usually stick around to enjoy one another's company and meet new people.
